If you're too lazy to read the above article, it basically says this: young girl is addicted to tanning, and got melanoma, and by age 26, she was killed by it. Personally, I think she deserves a Darwin Award. I feel no sympathy for her at all- she did it to herself. She might as well have on her headstone, "I killed me!"
Did you know that if you use a tanning bed extensively before the age of 30, you are 75% more likely to get skin cancer?
Did you know that tan skin actually damaged skin?
Did you know that 79% of men think that women should stop tanning extensively?
Tanning started with the great fashionista Coco Chanel. You see, pale skin was in- the lighter, the more beautiful you were. Coco went on a cruise, and fell asleep on the deck while reading a book in the sun. When she awoke a few hours later, she had a bad sunburn. By the time she got back to port, the sunburn had turned into a tan. Women thought she was making a fashion statement, and decided to tan their skin as well. Coco personally hated the tan, and didn't want it to become a trend.
Personally, I think women should embrace their skin tone the way they are. I love my pale skin. In fact, I became a model because most photographers love that porcelain skin tone.
So, heads up, you girls with the fake bakes, standing in line at the gym, waiting on a tanning bed to come available: we, the men and women who did our homework, are educated, and have common sense, are laughing at you.
